There are a few things worse than trying to catch some shut-eye in an incredibly hot, sticky room. Our fantastic summer seems set to continue so how do we cool down without installing air conditioning?

  1. Choose cotton
White of natural linens made from light weight cotton (Egyptian or otherwise) are breatheable and excellent for promoting ventilation & airflow in the bedroom.
  2. Create a cross breeze
Position a fan across from the window, this will allow the wind from outside to combine with the fans air flow to create a cooling cross breeze.
  3. Pamper your pulses
To cool down quickly apply ice packs or cold compresses to pulse points ie - wrists, neck, elbow, groin, ankles or behind the knees
  4. Go it alone
Desparate times call for desparate measures..! Its worth heading for the spare room as sharing a bed, cuddling with your partner increases body heat intern making the overall in bed temperature higher.
  5. Hydration
Make sure you drink a glass of water before bed. Tossing, turning & sweating at night can result in dehydration so get some H20 in the tank beforehand (Just 8 ounces will do the trick unless you're really into those 3am bathroom runs!)
  6. Cool off
A cold shower will reduce the core body temperature whilst rinsing off sweat so you can go to bed feeling cold & clean.
  7. Get down low
Hot air rises so set your bed as close to the floor as possible, even consider sleeping downstairs the lower you go the cooler it gets!
